Function of QORF & Outdoors Queensland

Outdoors Queensland is a subsidiary of the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation (QORF). Outdoors Queensland provides a range of commercial products and services to both QORF members and non-members. Any profits generated by Outdoors Queensland is returned to QORF to further its aims and objectives.

QORF was formed in 1996 as a not-for-profit association consisting of a coalition of outdoor recreation groups to represent and advocate on behalf of the industry.

Annual Report

QORF is the peak industry body representing the interests of outdoor recreation users in Queensland.

QORF affirms the value of outdoor recreation and encourages the opportunity for all people to recreate outdoors.

To date, financial support for the organisation has been provided through the State Sport and Recreation Development Fund managed by Sport and Recreation Queensland, within the Queensland Departments of Communication and Information, Local Government, Planning and Sport.

One of the key reasons for establishing the Federation was to assist communication between different user groups and all levels of government on outdoor recreation-related issues. QORF therefore represents the diversity of opinions across the outdoor recreation industry on any issue, and does not, on most issues, seek to achieve consensus. QORF provides opportunities for industry members to meet with key policy makers, and holds forums to encourage discussion of the issues that affect our industry.

Management Committee

The affairs of the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation are administered by the Management Committee. Changes to the QORF Constitution introduced at the General Meeting of March 2004 require that the QORF Management Committee now consists of seven members, with the option for two additional persons to be co-opted. The Management Committee must include at least two representatives from the Ordinary membership and two representatives from the Associate membership.

The new QORF Management Committee is as follows:

Executive

President: Andrew Boyle
Vice President: Ian Heath
Treasurer: Jo Weaver
Secretary: Ben Rothwell
