The decision on finalists was a very difficult one with many very high quality nominees across the breadth of awards on offer. In total there were nearly 40 nominations for the 8 awards on offer, all of high quality and merit.

As the organisers of the event, the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation would like to thank all those who submitted entries: for their enthusiasm, their achievements and their support of this annual event.

The dinner event for the Award Ceremony begins this year with complimentary drinks at 6.00pm and a performance by a string and flute quartet from the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to the awards finalists who will be profiled throughout the evening, the night also includes a guest presentation by Chris Bray, renowned adventurer and photographer, and a look at the photographs entered in the ‘It’s Better Outdoors’ Photography Competition. Winners of the Open and Schools categories will be announced on this evening, with the overall competition winner, receiving the new Nikon SLR and lens.

It will be a full evening of awards, dinner, music and prizes. Not only does the K2 Trivia Competition continue offering a $50 voucher for every person on the winning table of trivia buffs; there is also a lucky door prize of a $70 book voucher provided by Red Rock Adventure Products.

The Minister for Sport, the Hon Phil Reeves will open the evening, but the real focus will be on the industry through the award finalists and photography competition entrants. We welcome your attendance at the awards and encourage you to come and show your support for the achievements of the nominees, which have been outstanding.
